About

Joined Up North East is a three-year PhD project with Newcastle University that is being led by Mark Adley (view bio or video introduction). The project explores the health and social care pathways for LBGTQIA+ people* over the age of 18 in the North East who have experienced multiple exclusion or disadvantage, for example:

Mark is working alongside a small team of Public Advisors: members of diverse LGBTQIA+ groups who will be collaborating on the project, and co-authoring documents and reports.

The PhD is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research Applied Research Collaboration North East and North Cumbria, as part of their inequalities and marginalised communities theme, in collaboration with Newcastle University's Population Health Sciences Institute.
